Audio data stays on your device

BarkCatcher is designed to be privacy-first. All audio analysis happens locally on your computer. Your audio files are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. The barking logs, reports, and case data you create remain on your device unless you choose to export them yourself.

Information we collect

We collect limited information in the following categories:

Purchase information

When you buy a license, our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy, collects your name, email address, billing address, and payment details. We receive your name, email, and license key from Lemon Squeezy so we can provision your license. We do not receive or store your full credit card number.

License and activation data

When you activate a license key, we record a device identifier and the license key to enforce the device limits of your plan. We do not collect information about the contents of your cases, recordings, or reports.

Website analytics

Our website uses Google Tag Manager and may include analytics services that collect standard usage data such as pages visited, referring URLs, browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This data helps us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. You can block these trackers with a browser ad blocker or by disabling JavaScript.

Support communications

If you email us for support, we retain the content of your correspondence so we can respond to your request and improve our product.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process purchases and issue refunds through Lemon Squeezy

Cookies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to remember your preferences (such as your theme setting). You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. The BarkCatcher desktop application does not use cookies.

Data retention

We retain your purchase and license information for as long as your license is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Support correspondence is retained for up to two years. Website analytics data is retained according to the defaults of the analytics service in use.

Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all web traffic and restricted access to personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

BarkCatcher is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
